Spend your days at the
beach, not getting to it

A community that feels like home

With fewer than 90 apartments, The Grove is deliberately smaller than most retirement villages. That means you'll know your neighbours by name. You'll see familiar faces in the residents' lounge. And you'll always have someone to share a cuppa with.

The heart of our community is the shared spaces. The residents' lounge is perfect for catching up with friends or hosting family. There's a well-equipped workshop for those who like to keep their hands busy. And the internal gardens offer peaceful spots to sit with a book or chat with a neighbour.

Every apartment comes with secure underground parking - so your car is always protected, though you may find you use it far less than you expected.

What our residents say

We have more freedom now than ever.

Orewa becomes your backyard

At The Grove, your world doesn't shrink - it expands. Because when everything is flat walking distance away, you find yourself out and about more than ever.

The beach is four minutes from your front door. Not a drive - a walk. Pop down for a morning stroll, watch the tide come in with a flat white, or take the grandkids for a paddle.

But it's not just the beach. Orewa is a proper town with everything you need:

  • Orewa Beach - 4 minutes

  • Cafes and restaurants - 5 minutes

  • Orewa Bowling Club - 5 minutes

  • Estuary walks - 5 minutes

  • Supermarket - 10 minutes

  • Library - 10 minutes

  • Medical centre - 10 minutes

  • Centrestage Theatre - 10 minutes

Many residents tell us they use their car far less than before. When you can walk to the shops, meet friends at a cafe, or catch a show at the theatre, life becomes simpler.

What our residents say

I've never been fitter - at 74, that's saying something.

Independent living, on your terms

The Grove isn't a care facility. It's a community of independent people who happen to live in the same place.

You set your own schedule. Come and go as you please. Travel when you want. The lock-and-leave lifestyle means you can visit the grandkids in Wellington or take that trip to the South Island without worrying about the house.

There are social activities if you want them - morning teas, happy hours, exercise classes, outings. But there's no pressure to join in. Some residents are at every event. Others prefer their own company. Both are perfectly fine.

If you ever do need a hand, support is there. Regular wellness checks are available and staff are on hand during the day. But the focus here is on keeping you in your own home, living independently, for as long as possible.
